Windsurfing for Beginners
Windsurfing is a great sport. Imagine being able to skim across the top of the water without the sound or smell of an engine, seeing dolphins and manatees around you, balancing against the power of the wind. That is why I love it. It is like flying and has a great sense of freedom on the water. Tampa Bay has a great expanse of water, go explore it.
You don't have to be an athlete or bodybuilder to windsurf. The equipment these days is lightweight and designed to be easy to use. Normal people who have never windsurfed are quite capable of learning in an afternoon and do with a lesson.
In beginning FL Windsurfing Lessons, you learn the basics. It is quite similar to learning to snow ski, you learn on the bunny hill, then progress to the green slope, while staying off the double blacks. In beginning Windsurfing Lessons in FL, you start off on a light wind day with calm water, and a smaller sail. Then as your abilities and desires increase, the sail size, thus power increases as well.
With our beginning windsurfing lesson, you are sailing out in the first hour or so and coming back to where you started from. And the fun does not stop there. All the basics are covered.
The next lesson is typically a harness lesson. A harness allows you to use your weight to hold the sail so the pressure is taken off your arms. Typically these FL Windsurfing Lessons can happen about five to ten times after your first lesson. Harnesses are good as they allow you to use bigger sails in more wind and/or not get as tired. The typical harness St Petersburg Windsurfing Lessons are two hours.
This is a sport for everyone from young in age to young in heart. One of my instructors Dick Witt is 70 and goes windsurfing whenever he can. One of the guys on the beach is 81 and goes everyday there is wind, he learned when he was 70. Rudy definitely has inspired me with his great outlook on life.
